Why is it necessary for organisations to have grievance procedure?

Disputes tend to happen in almost every single organisation that’s ever existed. Conflicts are normal are largely unavoidable and if harnessed correctly it can be used to benefit your organisation in order to encourage creativity and facilitate change.

Disputes should be dealt with effectively and this means having a forum allowing employees to communicate issues, grievances or complaints that may arise. In this way, the company can resolve certain issues in an effective manner thereby reducing the risk of any future issues.

The importance of disciplinary rules and procedures has also been recognise in legislation, which allows for the fairness of dismissal to be challenged before the employment tribunal. Therefore organisations and companies should deem it necessary to have grievance procedures as it provides a system for these to be dealt with fairly and speedily, before they develop into major problems and potentially collective disputes.
