Why are having position descriptions and performance indicators a vital part of performance management and performance appraisal?

"Key Performance Indicators are a set of measures that help a company determine if it is reaching its performance and operational goals. Indicators can be both financial and non-financial, and there is no one set of indicators used by all companies."

The position description and performance indicators are a vital part of the PMS as it will give all employee a clear understanding of how they are supposed to produce on the job.

This is actually to align the expectations of the employee's personal goals with the ones of the organization.
